96% of surveyed head teachers and school business leaders say lockdown free-school meal scheme ‘not working properly’

The scheme is supposed to replace free school meals in England, by giving poorer pupils food vouchers worth £15 a week.

More than a million youngsters are eligible for the vouchers until schools reopen after the lockdown.

But our exclusive survey, carried out with the head teachers union, the NAHT, shows that the system has been failing – and failing on a massive scale.
